casual dinner

We had an old family friend over to discuss his upcoming art show and the his website, so I thought I'd make an easy, casual meal.

simple salad
A very basic green salad. I had some blue cheese on the side, so people to add as much or as little as they liked.
[mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, oranges, orange-port dressing]

farfalle with sausage and mushrooms
I like to use the bowties with this particular mix because everything is about the same size and can be stabbed together on your fork.
[farfalle pasta, sausage (Mushroom Asiago from Trader Joes, in this case), mushrooms, onions, garlic, cherry tomatoes, peas, heavy cream, pasta cooking water, salt, pepper]
